Course Structure
The NEW Monty Roberts Intermediate Course of Horsemanship is a brand-new program covering nine key topics. It is divided into three sections: Course A, Course B, and Course C.
-
Course A & B – Mandatory
-
Course C – Elective
To qualify as a Monty Roberts Certified Instructor, students must complete the mandatory courses and accumulate sufficient points to progress. For students unable to commit to a full course block, individual module options will be available in the future.
Monty Roberts Intermediate Course of Horsemanship — Course A (Mandatory)
Course A consists of four core modules:
Module 1: Intention & Body Language
The horse reads your body language long before you speak. This module helps to build on your knowledge you have gained in your Join Up TM Module ( Introductory Module)
translate inner clarity into outer presence. Learn how posture, breath, and mental focus
directly influence the horse and the connection between you.
Module 2: Fine-Tuning Long Lining
Practice long-lining with feel, focus, and clear intent. Building on trust and understanding, this module develops your skills on how to use long lining to benefit your horses balance, fitness, muscle development and so much more. Body language, timing, and energy flow become refined tools in your toolbox, without force.
Module 3: Tricks and Training
Tricks become bridges to trust. In a playful setting, the horse learns to explore new tasks
voluntarily. This module teaches you all about the important learning theories, timing, feel
and soft communication to spark joy in learning—always within a framework of respect and partnership. Montys Dually Halter and the knowledge of how to „speak“ Equus is always the foundation of everything we do.
Module 4: Trailer Loading II
Trailer loading starts not at the ramp, but in the relationship. This module deepens
voluntary loading using trust, respectful leadership, the correct use of the Dually Halter and how to incrementally set up your sessions. The goal: a confident horse that loads in the trailer with ease.
Total Points in the Intermediate Course A: 1,100 points.
